Ptosis repair

This term refers to the drooping of the upper eyelid. In the worst case scenario this can cause loss of vision as the upper eyelid literally rests down over the eye. It can also have a major impact on a persons appearance making them appear ‘sleepy’ and cause them to age.

The cause of ptosis is normally a result of the aging process, however it can be due to other problems.

Ptosis repair is an operation that is done as a day stay procedure under local anaesthetic. It involves the surgeon reattaching the muscle that lifts the eye back onto the lid at the correct position.
